So this is my lent resolution this year :) I have been looking forward to this all year! Last year I wanted to do this with my family but I had a meal plan and it couldn't really work out but this year, IS THE YEAR! I'm so excited about pulling through with being a vegetarian for 40 whole days. With this being said Lent is about giving up something that would be really hard for you to give up. It's about giving something up for God. For example I gave up meat: everytime I think about wanting meat during lent it is looked at as a time of prayer. With being a vegetarian I am giving up meat except fish. In the bible fish is not included as meat so as Catholics we eat fish on Fridays instead of meat. So I believe it's fine for me, plus I don't eat much fish except for sushi or when I'm in Savannah by the Ocean. So this is exciting for me basically because Chad is also doing this with me so I have a partner to pull through it all and it's the time to start trying more natural healthier ways of living. I already do eat like a vegetarian when it comes to what I PICK to eat. Now what I can afford is different. I can afford a slew of hotdogs but is it good for me? Heck no. I love trying new ways to eat like kashi bars or poppy seed dressing its delicious and nutritious! Anyway it's day 6 of our challenge and it's going very well! We love Boca burgers! It's all soy, vegetables and cheese! They even make vegan ones! At first we were hesitant and then we tried them again and fried them lightly and they were actually good. So I recommend them to all especially because they are better for you in sodium, fat, calories, basically everything. Plus by being vegetarian there are plenty of benefits like not having high blood pressure, heart disease and some forms of cancer as long as you don't just eat French fries and you actually eat salads and fruits!
Love Sara!
